AVIF is a newly developed image format making images smaller while preserving their quality without degradation. The use of this format is also royalty-free, it offers better compression than existing image formats, and it supports a broader range of features than existing formats. HDR support is another critical advantage over other formats. The new format is supported by several well-known companies, including Apple, Google, VideoLAN, Facebook, and Netflix. The AVIF format is compatible with high dynamic range images as opposed to image formats including WebP, JPEG, JPEG2000, PNG, and GIF. Supporting up to 12 bits of color at full resolution, it provides images up to ten times smaller than other formats. The AVIF format provides animated, transparent, and lossless images.I have taken some time to prepare a full list of features/changes in XnView MP. This should better help new users or existing migrating XnView 1.9x users. I have looked through many forum topics to better collate this list. Please feel free to help me further in this list. Please keep any criticism as constructive. Virtually all of standard XnView's much loved features have been preserved for the ' Multi -Platform' (MP) version.įor XnView MP, notable features have been re-tweaked, enhanced and visually re-styled. XnView MP is intended to have a unified look and feel across all platforms it runs on. All core features and functionalities of the standard XnView 1.9x are all still present in XnView MP, whilst some features are scheduled to be re-introduced. XnView MP has a more 'concise' approach in it's design, when comparing it to the standard XnView 1.9x. This conciseness can be visually seen in a lot of XnView MP's user menu's. For example, in the standard XnView 1.9x versions the information items (Info) for "command line", "registration", "what's new" and "licence agreement" were all available under separate items and would open in separate windows or instances. However in XnView MP, this has been re-styled to make all those same items still available, but now under a single ABOUT window with a tabs for each item. Several other concise-thought display methods now exist throughout XnView MP much like the aforementioned example. XnView MP is provided as FREEWARE for private non-commercial or educational use (including non-profit organizations). ![]() Support for full internal bit depth pictures 8/16/32 bits per component.Ĭontinued support for WebP, APNG and other non-standard image formats.Continued support for over 500* image, graphic and video formats.New features in XnView MP compared to standard XnView: XnView MP is supported on Windows, Mac, and Linux in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.Improved Multi-core processing support in XnView MP.Open GL implementation in parts of XnView MP.Support for UNICODE - for a great amount of the world's, written language characters (in filenames, folders etc). Thanks a lot for this wonderful program.Ability to disable starting the application with Browser opened, so in it's place an tab is displayed.Web Capture: A new ability to take an image screen capture of a webpage without needing a web browser.Ability to create custom layout's in the Browser. The application's "Options" has been renamed to "Settings".The "Recent files" menu now has better handling and small visual enhancements.Tab dragging by 'sliding' to arrange (thanks to QT) which is similar to Google's Chrome web browser.Language translations are convenient text-based files (.lng).New and updated Language Translations. Double click will dock it instead maximize and I don't think there is alternative way to do it. I lose a lot of time fiddling with his size when using it in secondary monitors. Also that the floating preview window can be maximized. I would like also if I can select several images in MP and they appear tiled in the preview, as Adobe Bridge. I'm talking about deleting with external programs, as explorer. It forces me to shut down the program and open it again to be able to delete the folder. ![]() I can delete in explorer the files that MP is visiting, but not the folders, even if I leave the folder. It hardly crashes.īut I would love if it allows me to delete the folders that MP is visiting. This was a problem in MP also in the past but not any more. I can not not use the classic one because it crashes too much for me. I have used both and I have both installed. ![]()
